VA-Space and Equipment Planning System (VA-SEPS)

VA-SEPS

The VA-Space and Equipment Planning System (VA-SEPS) is a computerized space and equipment planning tool developed collaboratively by Department of Defense and the Department of Veterans Affairs, for use on all VA health care projects.

Based on answers to input data questions, VA-SEPS creates a baseline space program, the Program for Design (PFD) based on the VA Space Planning Criteria, and a Project Room Contents (PRC) Report and associated cost estimate. For a health care project, based on the answers to those input data questions, the PFD and PRC are generated using a series of mathematical and logical formulas driven by VA Space Planning Criteria.

The space and equipment / room contents in SEPS is updated as VA Space Planning Criteria is updated on a periodic basis. Updates and other important information are provided via the SEPS Website.

SEPS Training is provided virtually for registered Users via Teams platform on a monthly basis, in two sessions: Basic SEPS functionality needed to develop a project PFD and PRC, and Customizing a project PFD / PRC.

Please call or email Office of Construction & Facilities Management, Facilities Standards Service, Gary M. Fischer, Senior Healthcare Architect, 202‑870‑2802 for assistance.
